Why

The Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund (BPF), a 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2006 to honor the memory of Bob Perks, a 42-year-old State College native, who passed away in 2005 after a long battle with melanoma. With a simple mission – easing the financial burden of individuals and families battling cancer by providing funding for basic necessities -- the hope of the BPF is to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with cancer. The BPF was established by Bob’s wife, Doreen, his family, friends, and colleagues so cancer patients would worry less about the burden of unpaid bills and focus on their health and recovery. Since 2006, the BPF has raised and distributed more than $2.7 MILLION DOLLARS to fund 5,000 plus cancer patient applications in a six-county area of central Pennsylvania.

Bob is remembered as a devoted husband and father, an outstanding athlete, a proud Penn Stater, and a founding member of Coaches vs. Cancer of Penn State. Read More...
