Our 11th annual Rock The 80’s event was spectacular this year! We could not have done it without our faithful supporters and event planners. THANK YOU to everyone who rocked out with us at The State Theatre.
Almost $23,000 was raised through this sold-out event, to help ease the financial burden of local cancer patients. This year was the highest fundraising total in the 11-year history of live Rock the 80’s concerts!
The Totally Rad Reception, held just prior to the concert at Kish Bank’s Expect More Store, was a wonderful celebration of pre-concert activities. Thank you to the State College American Legion Post 245 for providing the delicious hors d’oeuvres and to W.R. Hickey for their generous beverage donations.
This year’s costume contest winners were “The Love Boat” group for the best duo or group costume entry. They won a $150 Gigi’s Southern Table gift card. Angela Kaye won the best solo costume, for her impression of Joan Jett, earning herself a $100 gift card for The Tavern Restaurant.
We would like to offer a special thank you to our 2023 strategic partners: American Cancer Society, Coaches vs Cancer of Penn State, Girls Night Out Altoona, Kish Bank, Mount Nittany Health, Sheetz, Spitzer Subaru of DuBois, UPMC Altoona, Huntingdon County United Way, United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, and Geisinger.
As Bob Perks Fund’s cherished associates, our Strategic Partners play an important role as long-time ambassadors of our mission, as well as provide significant financial support on an annual basis. Without their continued support, funding to local cancer patients would be severely diminished. We are enormously grateful for their continuous partnerships.
We would also like to thank our 2023 Rock The 80’s event sponsors, who all helped to make this year’s event successful: UPMC Altoona, America’s Carpet Outlet, First Citizens Community Bank, Restek Corporation, Converge, McQuaide Blasko, Attorneys at Law, Mount Nittany Health, Truist Bank, Blake and Linda Gall, Frost & Conn Insurance, Stocker Chevrolet Subaru, Ben and Robin Heim, Koch Funeral Home, Primary Health Network, State College Orthodontics, R.H. Dotts Energy, along with our In-Kind donors Hugh and Janyce Mose, James Miller, Jeff Brown, J. R. Mangan, Kish Bank Expect More Store, State College American Legion Post 245, and W.R. Hickey.
Special thanks to our event organizers, James Miller and JR Mangan, our emcee, Jeff Brown, and to all the bands who donated their time: Anchor&Arrow, Corner Brothers, Crush, The Extractors, Genuine Red & the Issues, JR Mangan Band w/ Veronica, The Long Afternoon, MISS Melanie, and Spider Kelly. Thank you also to the countless Bob Perks Fund volunteers, and all who attended this awesome event!
We hope to see all of you for our 12th annual Rock The 80’s concert on February 24, 2024.
