Girls Night Out Altoona 2022

Updated: Feb 16, 2023

Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund was honored to be selected as a recipient of the 14th Annual Girls Night Out, Altoona, which was held on October 26, 2022. We were awarded an amazing donation of $37,500, which will support breast cancer patients in the six counties we serve in Central PA. Bob Perks Fund helps ease the financial burden of cancer patients by assisting with basic living expenses so they may focus on treatment and recovery.

The event began as a small “Pay it Forward” project by breast cancer patient, Taunia Oechslin. Her goal was to assure that every female be educated about breast cancer, understand the value of early detection and receive proper treatment. This event has grown to raise over $1.3 million total raised over the past 14 years.

Amy Mearkle, Director of Marketing for DelGrosso Family of Companies, served as emcee for the event. The evening’s speakers were: Michael DelGrosso, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer DelGrosso Foods, Dr. Craig Meyers, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, and Breast Cancer Survivor/Fighter Jen Smith, who moved the audience to tears.

This year’s proceeds benefit:
